Maria and Nick came to Victoria from Edmonton for their wedding day. They left the planning of their day to the very capable hands of Jenn and Hilary of simpliCITY Events and Weddings. I was honoured to be asked to photograph this amazing day, and work with these amazing women.
Nick is Greek, and it was very important to him to have a traditional Greek wedding. The ceremony was held at the Ypapanti Greek Orthodox Church in Saanich. This was a first for me. I found it fascinating, beautiful and unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. Everything was done in triplicate, even the exchanging of rings, and the entire hour-long ceremony was sung rather than spoken.
After the ceremony, we went to their reception site at the stunning Victoria Garden Estate. We spent some time with photos before they went to celebrate with the 20+ friends and family who came with them. Their sweet little girl, Emma, was such a charmer. What a doll. The decor was provided by Designer Weddings and Special Events. I loved the bold colour combination. (shh, don’t tell Cliff. He once had a shirt in these colours, and I made him give it away.) It really made the tent festive and alive. Tina, of Platinum Floral Designs once again created a gorgeous bouquet. I love the unique elements she always includes.
